In remarkable condition for its age, this beautiful, ornate, lidded tureen in the classic Asiatic Pheasant design is stamped on the base with BTP Co, thereby dating its manufacture between 1850 and 1894.  BTP stands for the Bovey Tracey Pottery Company in Devon.  Ornate handles adorn the base and there is a little majolica detail around these as well as the lid handle. The blue & white decoration is as iconic as it is pretty.
There is a little discolouration inside the tureen, as shown, and minimal crazing. One tiny chip to the edge of the lid, as shown in the last picture but hard to see.  A very fine hairline crack to the underside base and also to the lid handle, barely detectable but possibly professionally repaired as on both sides of the handle.
