A remarkable set of 8 square, scallop-edged, art deco, 'Phoenix' dinner plates by Thomas Forester & Sons Ltd, dating from around 1925.
With gilded edging and gilded decorative background, and an array of striking and eye-catching colours to the hand-painted, Oriental Phoenix design, this is a truly unique set of plates, in surprisingly good condition, given their age

Condition: I have provided pictures of each of the 8 plates individually to show condition. Plates 1 - 5 are in excellent condition, with just fading to the gilding on the internal plate base.  Plate 6 has a small, flat chip on one edge.  Plate 7 has a faint surface, hairline crack on the front and back.  And Plate 8 has a chip to the edge as well as 2 edge chips to the underside (not visible from the front)
