A truly magnificent, large antique washjug in blue & white Victorian Ware Ironstone.  Extensive scalloped edging, fluting around the body, and finger indents for better grip, it has a pretty tilted neck and an elaborate handle.  
In terms of condition I can find no chips,  no cracks nor grazing. The only defect I can see is that the upper part of the handle has been glued back, possibly professionally, as it is hard to tell and certainly not noticeable unless you look carefully.
I've filled it with water and flowers several times and the handle is sturdy and stable. But it would be prudent to hold the body as well if full of water.
An extraordinary piece of history and an impressive ornamental vase!
