A rare piece of art deco pottery dating from circa 1930 by the renowned pottery makers Shorter & Sons Ltd based in Staffordshire, England. This beige, oval vase has beautiful majolica decoration of a stylised leaping deer surrounded by foliage. It also features pretty, lightly scalloped edging.
Given its antique status this vase is in remarkable condition. There are no obvious defects apart from a small and hardly visible chip to the outer rim, as shown in the last two pictures. And one or two flat surface chips to the interior.
